Abstract

Collective coping with the loss

The loss of a loved one is one of the most difficult experiences. We live in a culture where we can’t talk about mourning and loss. Sometimes it is even hard for us to admit to ourselves that we are suffering a lot. When we have this experience, we usually stay alone with it. We don’t want to burden others with our problems, we don’t want to upset them, we don’t want them to feel confused. The amount of pain and longing is too great to bear it alone. Mourning doesn’t have to be a state removed from public sphere. You can experience it together. Sooner or later, it will touch each of us.

The presentation will be about finding and building ways to collectively share difficult experiences, especially those related to loss using the example of the panelist’s artistic and research work.
